  • How do I turn on the Commerce Services?
  • Once you join Intel® Cloud Services Platform, you can turn on the Commerce switch during app creation (or while editing) on the Cloud Services portal screen:
  • How are withholding taxes calculated and collected for Commerce Services?
  • Please check this tax documentation.
  • Does Intel Commerce Services handle sales and VAT tax obligations for all countries?
  • No, Intel Commerce Services handles taxes only in the United States, Norway, and the European Union. The business owner is responsible for tax obligations in all other countries.
  • What is the profit-sharing split?
  • Currently, developers receive all the proceeds from a purchase minus any credit card or PayPal transaction charges.
  • Can the store be used in any country?
  • No, only the following consumer countries are supported:

  • Are refunds supported?
  • Yes, both partial and full refunds are supported for up to 60 days after the original purchase. A transaction fee for the original sale is still collected, but the refund itself is free. The refund is credited back to consumer via the original method of payment. The developer will not be remunerated for this sale.
  • Am I charged for failed transactions?
  • No, you will not be charged a processing fee on unapproved payments.
  • Am I charged for chargebacks?
  • Intel passes through the processor's fee for chargebacks.
  • Am I charged for taxation calls?
  • No, both VAT and U.S. tax are calculated on behalf of the developer, and this service is free.
  • Are all types of products and businesses supported?
  • No, view the terms of service for business restrictions. Also only certain product codes are supported for purchases at this time. Please refer to this link.
  • Is there a minimum price or maximum price a product/app may cost?
  • In USD, the minimum price is $0.95 and the maximum price is $50,000.
  • Are ACH direct deposit methods into bank accounts supported for payment of my proceeds?
  • Currently, only PayPal accounts are supported for payment of developer proceeds.
  • What credit cards should I use to test the commerce system?
  • There are some generally acceptable and well-known testing-only credit cards. These should only be used in the testing environment. If used in the production environment, it will increase the fraud score for the indicated consumer.

  • Will customers receive an email?
  • Yes, users will receive email notifications outlining the details of their purchases, including refund status.
  • How do I test my store?
  • To test the flow the consumer will experience, you should enable Commerce Services and set up your store in the testing environment. API calls should be made to create a cart and purchase for a consumer. In the test environment only, use “testing credit cards.”
  • Do customers have to register with Intel® Identity Services to make purchases?
  • Yes, it is a requirement for consumers to register through Intel Identity Services and approve the usage of their payment information for any purchase through Commerce Services.
  • What languages are supported?
  • English, French, Italian, German, Spanish
  • How and when do I get my money?
  • Intel pays out once a month to your PayPal account.
  • Where do I see my commerce transactions?
  • The transactions can be seen in the Intel Cloud Services portal

  • What is the Intel® Cloud Services Platform beta?
  • Intel Cloud Services Platform beta is a set of online cloud-based scalable services that provide key capabilities such as location, identity, and context to developers for use in desktop and mobile applications aimed at both consumers and businesses. All services are identity based to provide rich interoperability and seamless app experiences.
  • What services are available today?
  • Services available today include: Intel® Identity Services, Location Based Services, Context Services, Commerce Services, and many more available for preview on the Tech Preview page.
  • Who can use the Intel Cloud Services Platform beta?
  • The Intel Cloud Services Platform beta has been designed for desktop, mobile, or web developers who are looking to create better experiences for their users. The services are currently in a private beta and are available on a limited basis.
  • What are Intel® Identity Services?
  • Intel Identity Services are a set of identity and profile services that are designed for rich interoperability, easier data management, and storage, and seamless authentication and authorization of users across platforms.
  • What standards are the Intel Identity Services based on?
  • Intel Identity Services are based on widely adopted federal standards including OAuth and SAML.
  • What Location Based Services are available today?
  • The Location Based Services available today include geocoding, reverse geocoding, mapping, directions, and points of interest (POI).
  • What Context Services are available?
  • Cloud Services Platform beta provides a set of Context Services that make apps aware and customizes them by providing the ability to collect, aggregate, store, and analyze user data, starting with location data. Services currently available are: context data types, privacy controls for end users, storing/retrieving context, monitoring for new context, and behavior models.
  • Is there a cost to use these services?
  • There is no cost to use the Cloud Services Platform beta. However, there is a daily limit on the number of calls that your app can make to the API. Your app can make a total of 1 million API calls per developer per API key per day or 500 API calls per developer per API key per second.
  • What about technical support?
  • You can ask questions, get help, and provide product feedback on our Support Forum.
  • Can I embed third-party widgets such as YouTube* videos or Google* Maps into my app?
  • Yes. Be sure to follow the terms and conditions required by the owners of those services/widgets.
  • What kind of sample code is available?
  • We offer widgets to enrich your apps with maps, driving directions, and other location services in minutes, with no coding required. Check out our widgets on Location Based Services and Context Services.
  • Do I need to join the Intel® Developer Zone to get access?
  • No, you do not need to join the Intel Developer Zone to access these services.
  • What languages does the Intel Cloud Services Platform beta support?
  • The cloud-based scalable services that provide key capabilities such as commerce, context, identity, and location services for developers to use in desktop, mobile, and server applications. They are aimed at both consumers and businesses. The APIs are RESTful APIs and are supported via HTTP calls over the web.
  • I’m a C++/.NET* developer; can I still use the Cloud Services Platform beta?
  • You can use any of the RESTful APIs with C++/.NET as well as with any language that supports HTTP calls to the web. The app would need to write wrappers to make HTTP calls from native code.
  • Can I use my existing web APIs and other third-party APIs (e.g., social media APIs)?
  • Yes, you can put code in your app that makes use of your existing APIs and other code on the web. Be sure you follow the terms and conditions required by the owners of third-party APIs/services.
  • Does my app require internet connection to get access?
  • Yes, the app must have internet connection to access API calls.
