Attila Áfra is a ray tracing software engineer and the creator and technical lead of the Intel® Open Image Denoise library. Attila holds a master's degree in computer science and received his PhD in 2013 on high-performance CPU ray tracing algorithms from Babeș-Bolyai University in Romania. He joined Intel in 2015 working on the Intel® Embree ray tracing kernel library. For his contributions to Intel Embree he received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2021. His interests and expertise include computer graphics, high-performance rendering, deep learning, hardware-focused low-level code optimization, and parallel computing.
