"data1.cab" file errors that occur when installing the Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Windows* product from a CD have been reported by a few customers. Data1.cab is the Intel-generated file that actually contains the product bits. The CDs might be defective, though this seems unlikely. We have seen this error generated when the Windows Installer registry is confused or corrupted.

To address this error, we recommend you do the following:

1. The first thing to try is copying the CD contents to the hard disk and installing from there.

2. If you still see errors, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove any previous install of Fortran and then reinstall. The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility downloadable file can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.

3. If you continue to see errors, submit an issue to your Intel Premier Support account, or if you only have access to the Intel user forums, post a new issue at the forum for Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Windows* at the link http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-visual-fortran-compiler-for-windows/

Intel can provide a replacement for your boxed product for the Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Windows* sent to you by express delivery if you can provide us with your preferred mailing address (street address, not P.O. box) in your Premier Support issue. For user forum postings, ask for a private thread in your initial posting so you can enter your mailing address information after the thread is private.

In the meantime, since you have a registered product license, you can download the Fortran product files by following the steps below. Verson 11.1 update 6 of the Fortran product is currently available, so these steps will allow you to download a much more recent version than the 11.1.048 version on the CDs.

1. Login to Intel's Registration Center at https://registrationcenter.intel.com/

2. From the list of your products displayed, go to the entry for the desired product and click on the version number in the "Downloads" column.

3. Use the dropdown lists to select the Version and Minor update version you want to download, remembering that the highest numbered Version and the highest numbered minor update for that Version is the most recent release.

4. After reviewing the description of the files available for the package, click on the hyperlink for each file you wish to download.

5.  You should have received email with your new .lic license file attached which you should copy to the following location on the Windows* system where you install your Fortran Compiler, and remove your previous .lic license file(s) for this product and any evaluation license files so only your latest full-product license file will be accessed when you re-install with the downloaded product file:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses

6. Please indicate in your Premier Support issue or user forum thread if you are able to download and install your product files successfully.
