Problem:
Though GPA appears to be setup properly (that is, you've started up Remote Server on the target system and one of the GPA applications such as System Analyzer on the client system), you may encounter one or more of the following symptoms:
  • the game never starts on the target system
  • the GPA applications do not appear to be operating properly (they become non-responsive)
  • you receive a "failed to connect" error message in the GPA application
Root Cause:
GPA creates a socket connection between the target and client systems which is used for sending commands and data between the two system, which is required even if the target and client are co-located on the same physical hardware. But on some systems Windows Live OneCare* appears to interfere with the communication between the target and client, with the effect being that one or more of the GPA applications may not connect to the Remote Server ("failed to connect"), and/or the GPA applications seem to become non-responsive (i.e., "hung").

Resolution:
Disable Windows Live OneCare* (and any other anti-virus and firewall software) running on both the client and target systems, then restart all GPA applications. As an alternative, you may also need to configure your firewall to allow access via port 27016 (which is the port used by GPA).
