It should be able to estimate memory and QPI bandwidth. It also should work for the Intel(r) Xeon(r) 7500 Processor series (codenamed Nehalem-EX) that has a different uncore vs. Core(tm) i7 and Xeon 5600/5500 processor series.

Invalid Event Discarded: UNC_IMC_NORMAL_READS.ANY
ERROR : There are no valid events specified - Sampling aborted

The events needed to look at memory bandwidth in Intel(R) Microarchitecture Codename Nehalem are currently not available in Intel(R) VTune(TM) Amplifier XE.  To measure memory bandwidth for Nehalem-based processors, you must use the method given in this article which relies on Intel(R) Performance Tuning Utility.

You can measure bandwidth for Intel(R) Microarchitecture Codename Sandy Bridge using the "Bandwidth" profile with VTune Amplifier XE.
