Reference Number : DPD200136329

Version : 11.1.035, 11.0.xxx, 10.x, 9.x and earlier

Operating System : Linux* kernel version 2.6.16 and later

Problem Description : Reading/writing files in large chunks (>2GB) may truncate to 2 GB on Linux distros using kernel 2.6.16 or later.  This includes SLES* 10 and 11 and RH EL5*.  Starting with kernel 2.6.16 the behavior of read() and write() has changed effectively limiting single reads and writes to 2GB for the current Intel Fortran compilers.  This applies to both Itanium® and Intel® 64.

Resolution Status : The fix requires a change to the ifort run-time libraries which will be available in a future 11.1 update.  There is no workaround available.
