Introduction : Mapping Intel Compiler or Composer Update numbers to specific compiler versions and packages


Intel Composer XE 2011 (aka 12.0) and Intel Composer XE 2011 SP1 (aka 12.1) editions mappings.
Notes: 

Intel Composer XE 2011 is also known as version 12.0.  It is comprised of the initial release and Update 1 through Update 5.

Intel Composer XE 2011 SP1 is also known as version 12.1.  This version first appeared as Update 6 and subsequent Updates (7, 8, etc) are all version 12.1 compilers.

We use the "Modules" environment system to manage using different versions of software on one host. I'm trying to create a new set of modulefiles for the ComposerXE compiling suite, and not only is the version numbering scheme of this new packaging completely unintelligible, but the default set of directories created during its installation: /opt/intel/compilerpro-12.0.1.107 -> /opt/intel/composerxe-2011.1.107 /opt/intel/composerxe -> composerxe-2011 /opt/intel/composerxe-2011 /opt/intel/composerxe-2011.1.107 /opt/intel/include -> composerxe/include /opt/intel/ipp -> compserxe/ipp /opt/intel/lib -> composerxe/lib /opt/intel/man -> composerxe/man /opt/intel/mkl -> composerxe/mkl /opt/intel/tbb -> composerxe/tbb has too many indirections, is indecipherable as to the underlying intent, and is just plain ridiculous.
