Intel® Fortran Compiler - What are the recommended options to target a Pentium® II processor-based system?
With the version 9.x Compilers, we no longer have a Pentium® II processor specific option. It is our intention to move the 9.x Compilers ahead and primarily support the Pentium® 4 and Pentium® M processor families for processor-specific optimization. However, all of the non-processor specific optimization (/O2, /O3, -ipo and -prof_gen/-prof_use ) generate highly optimized code without taking advantage of Streaming SIMD Extensions (SSE). Also, using the processor-dispatch options (/Qax and -ax) will generate a generic code-path that will work on any Pentium processor.
