Overview
These are videos of Intel® Mash Maker in use. Videos are currently only available in Windows Media format, but we hope to have other formats available soon, for Mac and Linux users.

Example: Faces of Facebook Friends on a Map
The user uses Mash Maker to create a map showing where all their friends are from, with each person being represented by a picture of that person. They start by browsing to facebook. They then use the "Linked Data" widget to fetch the "home town" property from each person's profile. Then they use the Google Maps widget to show all these people. To show people's faces, they adjust the map settings so that the icon is the person's face. Having created the mashup, they save it so it will be suggested to other users who look at a facebook friends listing.

- The "Linked Data" widget, which annotates the current page with information from linked pages
- The "Google Maps" widget, which visualizes things on a map
- Widget settings panels, which allow one to edit the settings for an on-page widget
- The expert side-bar, which allows to to manually add a widget to a page
- Saving a widget combination as a mashup

Example: Expedia and Legroom
If a user browses to an expedia flight listing then the Mash Maker toolbar may suggest that the user apply the "legroom" mashup. If the user clicks on this, then Mash Maker will enhance the current page with legroom information for all flights.
We show how an experienced user could create this mashup, using a combination of three Mash Maker widgets. First they use "Copy and Paste" to add information about legroom to the page. Then they use "Correct" to ensure that both Expedia and the legroom website use the same names for different airlines. Then the user uses the "Match" widget to perform a database-style join between the two data sources, based on their "airline" properties.
Once the user has created the new mashup, they save it so that others can use it.

- The suggestion toolbar, which suggests mashups that the user might find useful for the current page
- Using the plus and minus buttons to toggle visibility of a widget
- Using the spanner icon to adjust widget settings
- Simple copy and paste to combine web pages
- Using the "Correct" widget to make several sources use the same names for things
- Using the "Match" widget to perform a database style join on several data sources
- Saving a mashup to be shared with the community

Example: Craigslist, Yelp, and Maps
We show how Mash Maker can easily combine together data from different sources. In this case, we use the "Find Address" widget to extract addresses for craigslist apartments, then use "Copy and Paste" to add Yelp searches near to each of these apartments. We then show all the data on a map and save this mashup for others to use.

I'm pretty psyched about this tool. I had a similar idea for allowing people at my company who aren't technically inclined to combine data base results into meaningful analysis without waiting for a developer to do it for them. This tool will help me explain how powerful mashups are and how easy they can be to set up. Looking forward to getting my invite. --doug ><> |

i've no sound in these vidoe files. difficult to unterstand, what's going on. i'ld prefer a 'very simple' first sample, which anybody can use as a 'start' to get involved in the topic... |

I also had trouble with the sound. I think it has to do with WMP and Firefox. We're trying this out on Firefox which may hog the sound stage depending on which application gets opened first, and which OS is supported at your company. |
