How to change the Parallel Studio version integrated into Visual Studio

Problem :
Only one version of Intel® Parallel Studio can be integrated with any one version of Microsoft Visual Studio* at a time. Therefore, if you have Intel Parallel Studio installed on your system and then install a different version along side of it, the newly installed version will be integrated into Visual Studio in place of the previously installed version - this means you will see the newly installed Parallel Studio toolbars, menu items, etc.

You can control which version of Intel Parallel Studio you use with a particular Visual Studio by performing the steps outlined below.

Environment:
Windows systems with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, 2008, and/or 2010 installed along with multiple versions of Intel Parallel Studio.

Root Cause:
Limit of one Parallel Studio integrated with a version of Visual Studio.

Resolution:
You will need to change the version of Parallel Studio that is integrated with a particular version of Visual Studio. This will need to be done for each component of the Parallel Studio that you have installed.

Begin by removing the integration from the version that is currently integrated.

For Intel Parallel Amplifier or Intel Parallel Inspector, start by opening the Command Prompt window for the version of Parallel Studio you wish to disable. For example:

To open an Intel Parallel Studio 2011 command prompt in the Visual Studio 2005 mode:

Start > All Programs > Intel Parallel Studio 2011 > Command Prompt > IA 32 Visual Studio 2005 mode.

To open an Intel Parallel Studio command prompt in the Visual Studio 2008 mode:

Start > All Programs > Intel Parallel Studio > Command Prompt > IA 32 Visual Studio 2008 mode.

Now invoke the appropriate script to disable the integration:

How to find Host ID for Floating licenses

Identifying the Host Name and Host ID
The host name and host ID are system-level identifiers on supported platforms that are used in the license file to identify the node on which you plan to install the Intel License Manager for FLEXlm* and license file. To enable you to obtain a counted license, these unique values must be available when you register your product. For node-locked licenses, you will also need the host name and host id of the node from which your applications will run, if different from the node for the Intel License Manager for FLEXlm*. Follow the directions below to obtain the host name and host id for each supported platform.

For CoFluent products: Please refer to product documentation for instructions on how to find your composite host ID for node-locked and floating licenses.

Microsoft Windows*
1. From the Start menu, click Run...
2. Type cmd in the Open: field, then click OK.
3. Type ipconfig /all at the command prompt, and press Enter.

In the resulting output, host name is the value that corresponds to Host Name, and host id is the value that corresponds to Physical Address.

For example, if the output of ipconfig /all included the following:
Host Name . . . . . . . : mycomputer
. . .
Physical Address . . . . : 00-06-29-CF-74-AA
then host name is mycomputer and the host ID is 00-06-29-CF-74-AA.

Linux*
1. Run the hostname command to display the host name.
2. Run the command /sbin/ifconfig eth0 to display the hardware address.
For example, if the /sbin/ifconfig eth0 command returns
HWaddr 00:D0:B7:A8:80:AA, then the host ID is 00:D0:B7:A8:80:AA.
It is strongly recommended that users run the lmhostid utility to obtain the hostid value required to generate the counted licenses. The lmhostid utility can be found in the install location to which Intel License Manager for FLEXlm* is installed.

Mac OS* X on Intel® Architecture
1. Run the hostname command to display the host name.
2. Run the command /sbin/ifconfig en0 ether to display the hardware address.
The following is an example of an address that could be returned by this command:
en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
ether 00:13:20:60:23:4f
It is strongly recommended that users run the lmhostid utility to obtain the hostid value required to generate the counted licenses. The lmhostid utility is installed to the same location as the Intel License Manager for FLEXlm*.
