The Intel Academic Community is a vibrant group of professors, faculty, and researchers from over 1000 Universities around the world. While this community is naturally made up of leaders and educators, on a regular basis there are certain individuals whose contributions require special consideration.
The Leadership in Academia Award is presented to a member whose contributions to the field of Computer Science Information Technology and specifically to the advancement of a Parallel Computing Curriculum have made a profound impact.
Leaders in Academia are those whose on and off-line activities support the community as a whole. This includes accomplishments such as creative use of Intel Curriculum, Training other educators, Blogging, Creating case-studies, Reviewing beta curriculum, Creating and sharing new teaching tools, courseware, labs and code, Speaking at events, Participation in forums, Serving on advisory boards, etc.

Dr. Pankratius holds a Ph.D. with distinction from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. |

| Leadership in Academia Award, Spring 2009 Dr. Walter F. Tichy is professor of Computer Science at the University Karlsruhe, Germany. He is also director of the software engineering department, including a SUN authorized Java Center, at Forschungszentrum Informatik, a research and transfer institute associated with the University. Dr. Tichy received a B.S. from the Technical University in Munich in 1974 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1976 and 1980. |

| Leadership in Academia Award, Winter 2009 Dr. Matthew Wolf is a member of the Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems (CERCS) at Georgia Tech, a research scientist at the School of Computer Science of the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology, and with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Research topics include dynamic program adaptation, online program monitoring, tuning, and steering, task and message scheduling, basic mechanisms and policies for autonomic quality management, middleware, and software tools. Dr. Wolf has been a member of the Intel Academic Community since 2007. Dr. Wolf is an Intel featured presenter at SIGCSE 09 and was the first recipient of the Leadership in Academia Award. |
