The results of the Level Up 2009 Intel® Visual Adrenaline Game Demo Challenge are now official. Three winners in each of three categories have earned bragging rights and fabulous prizes like all-access passes to GDC, game feedback from Intel developers, development hardware and software, and marketing exposure. The categories are:
Intel's fourth annual worldwide game demo challenge, with 91 entries from 19 countries, showcases game innovation that takes advantage of Intel hardware, tools, and development kits. A group of industry luminaries including Sid Meier, Will Wright, a team of experts from Intel, and many others judged this year’s games.
Many thanks to the contest's sponsors, including Adobe, Autodesk, Cakewalk, Frogames, and IGDA.
Best Game Optimized for Intel® Graphics
One set of prizes was awarded for games that are compatible and playable on Intel® Integrated Graphics chipsets. Here are the winners:
>> I Know Your Deeds challenges you to survive in a city dominated by zombies |
>> Spin Tires is an off-road racing game |
>> Inferus pits you against diabolical underground puzzles |
Best Game-on-the-Go
Another set of prizes was awarded based on how well games satisfied the special challenges and opportunities (power and connectivity monitoring, platform changes, peer-to-peer ad-hoc networking) for mobile gaming:
>> Inferus pits you against diabolical underground puzzles |
>> GermiNation involves strategically placing towers to defeat the enemy |
>> Rise of Pirates takes you to sea for naval battle and adventure |
Best Threaded Game
Finally, a set of prizes was awarded based on how the games performed on and scaled across multiple processor cores increasing performance and the experience of the games:
>> Spin Tires is an off-road racing game |
>> I Know Your Deeds challenges you to survive in a city dominated by zombies |
>> Ray Tracing Game is a puzzle where you must direct a laser to its target |
Judges' Choice Award
In addition, one special prize was awarded at the discretion of the judges:
>> Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War takes you to the skies on the Western Front of World War I |
