      <description><![CDATA[ This contest is rather odd in that it requires DirectX. Last time I checked, Intel was supplying Apple with their CPUS and some graphic chips. So the contest requirement of DirectX removed an entire platform (Mac OS X) from participating. If the idea is to make great looking demos & games, why isn't OpenGL, a cross-platform solution allowed? I strongly advise you to re-work the rules. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised by entrants from Mac and Linux platforms. ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[ I don't believe DirectX is a requirement, they're just listing the specs for the machine they will test the game on.  DirectX was listed because it installs as a separate library, so developers that do use DirectX know what versions will be available and be able to make sure their game runs on that version. ]]></description>
