Curriculum Steering Committee, PRC Ministry of Education
In May 2008, Intel signed memorandum of understanding with the Curriculum Steering Committee of the PRC Ministry of Education(MOE) committing to help 180 colleges deliver Multi-core related courses to over 30,000 college students by 2010. . To help college students learn the newest multi-core technology Intel offers faculty training workshops as well as cooperation and guidance on course development. Selwyn You, Intel senior course architect and member of the Curriculum Steering Committee, attended the Computer related disciplines specification review and provided guidance on both “Software Engineering” & “Embedded” discipline specifications. With strong support from leading colleges, Code Optimization and Parallel Programming are now included in the final specification as two required skills for students in Computer Science majors. Selwyn will work with the college faculties on a separate course of parallel programming in the curricula of programming languages (C/C++/C# and Java), which will be in the recommendation of the specification. As to the embedded field, the Curriculum Steering Committee agrees on the architecture openness in the specification, and some leading colleges have big interest to collaborate with Intel on the embedded curriculum.
