Symptom(s):

After running the VTune analyzer on your .NET* application, from within the Visual Studio* environment, you may receive the following error message if you attempt to run the application without the VTune analyzer:

no server found. please start java sampling server

and the application will not run.

Cause:

This scenario can arise when the VTune analyzer is prematurely terminated and not able to reset variables that configure the .NET environment for profiling.

Solution:

Remove the two system environment variables Cor_Enable_Profiling and COR_PROFILER. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Next, click the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button.
3. Scan the list of System variables for the two variables listed above and delete them.
