The "intel_graphics_guide.pdf" is very out of

That guide does not even mention the GMA

Apparently the intel_graphics_guide.pdf wasn't updated with the new chipset information. If you'd like to delve more into the differences between various chipsets, visit the comparison chart page.
Thanks for pointing out the miss!

3 generations of integrated chipset, continued promise of OpenGL 2.0, and not even a hint of delivery - are you just pulling our leg or what?
I am afraid that Intels OpenGL Support is just a joke - mention of it should be removed, as it borders of bait-and-switch these days.

you better have some serious hardware backing that up, i would say its not going to run assasins creed, that being a pretty complex game, but i found a little out
and if its anything like a regular 4500m which i imagine it is, just overclocked or something stupid like that, you wont be playing anything from this decade, lol

You might want to checkout the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Developer's Guide (http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-graphics-media-accelerator-developers-guide/).

This document provides detailed information about the shader capabilities and other characteristics of the various chipsets, including an overview of the chipset architecture. This version was last updated in April of 2009 and covers the Intel® GMA 4500MHD Express Chipset (and you can expect the document to be updated as new information becomes available).

Besides describing the various integrated graphics chipsets, the Developer's Guide document also provides details for the game developer on how to optimize the performance of your game, addressing both cpu and gpu performance. If game optimization is of interest to you, check out a recently-announced product, Intel(R) Graphics Performance Analyzers (http://www.intel.com/software/gpa/).

Does the Intel GMA 4500M chip send TV-out over the vga port because I was hoping to buy a vga to rca cable and just hook it up to a non-HDTV. I have a Acer Aspire 4730 laptop with the and only a vga port, no s-video or dvi.

The cables all specify "Please, check your PC & Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TV-Out function capability through the VGA connector to ensure this cable will work for you!"

Is the CPU Bus ratio still 10:1? Is the wattage any lower than the T4200? Computer buyers want to know.

Hi guys, as a IT Technician allow me to clear up some points a lot of you don't seem to be understanding, which is in no part your fault, the intel documents are not very clear or give any points most users are interested in knowing.

1. The GMA 4500M does support DX10 and SM (Shader Model) 4. This info is accurate based on the 7.15.10.1829 intel driver.

2. GPU frequency for the 4500M seems to be variable. Sources I have checked say the 4500M GPU frequency is 400MHz, however the 4500M (not HD) is clocked at 475MHz on my particular laptop. Its unclear (at least to me) if the 4500M uses shared system memory or has deadicated memory, again sources say its shared memory, but with my laptop Vista SP2 reports 128MB deadicated memory.

3. The 4500M has all of 10 unified shaders.. so in other words crap for gaming. However not many laptop IGPUs are better than this unless your paying huge amounts of money for your laptop. You will be able to play SOME games, but not beyond a resolution of 1024*768, and certainly not with high graphics settings with the 4500M.

4. OGL 2.0 support: I have no idea if its still 1.5 or 2.0. Lets hope for intels sake they finally got around to adding OGL 2.0 support with the latest driver.

Final Words:

The 4500M is a good laptop IGPU all things considered, although I do feel intel have reached the maximum capabilities this chip can offer for such things like DVD playback quality and should look into releasing a driver that maximises the chips gaming performance for the games the 4500M could plausibly run well with a good driver, STALKER, for example. For the enthusiasts, a simple little overclocking application would be nice to have just to satisfy the nagging question: How well could this chip handle a game like STALKER with a higher GPU frequency?

Ket;

To add to your explanation,
#2 - the 128MB reported is still shared memory-although it IS dedicated it is not discrete; and
#5, OpenGL support is still stuck at 1.5 and all we have are promises of 2.0 support coming "in updates".

I wish someone would develop a tweaker/oc tool for Intel IGC's, but I haven't found any yet and I doubt that we'd gain much when the chips have such a limited range of capabilities to begin with!
