New Opportunities for Software Developers Start Now. Join the Challenge.

Sell code. Make money. You could even win a VIP trip to CES 2010. Sound good? Read on and watch the short videos.

Today, software developers and software companies can join the new innovative, Intel® Atom Developer Program (http://appdeveloper.intel.com) to start to create, write, validate and sell applications and developer components for netbooks based on the Intel® Atom processor and take advantage of this opportunity in a growing market. The developer program was announced at the 2009 Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco by Intel CEO, Paul Otellini in his keynote on 9/22/09, with additional details announced by Intel Vice President, Renee James, in her keynote on 9/23/09.

The goal of the program is to create a revenue generation model for software developers and companies to create and sell innovative applications for products based on the Intel Atom processor, starting with netbooks. To increase the revenue stream for developers, the program offers a developer catalog where developers can sell and distribute components to other developers to help speed application development. The program supports multiple operating systems such as Microsoft Windows* and Moblin* and runtime environments like Adobe AIR* and Java*.

Developers can enroll in the program starting today, to learn the details to prepare to sell their validated applications and components through a consumer app store framework Intel is creating with OEMs, service providers and others. Dell*, Asus*, Acer*, and Adobe* all provided their support of this developer program and application store framework at IDF.

Newly belted, Intel® Software Network Black Belt contributor, Gastón Hillar, appeared onstage at IDF with Intel Vice President Renee James showing his application, Gaston’s Playground, on Moblin and Windows netbooks, and showing his support of the new Intel Atom Developer Program.

Join Gastón Hillar in writing applications for Intel Atom based netbooks, and enter the newly announced Intel Atom Developer Challenge. The creators of the first 100 applications validated through the program will win a premium netbook. We are awarding two grand prizes. One for the most innovative application and one for the most elegant design. Each application creator will win a VIP all expenses paid trip to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Jan 7-10, 2010.
