Collaboration, Development and Innovation - Between Intel and Wuhan University (2004-2009)
Intel corporation, as the world's leading enterprise in Information Technology, has a rich historical background, technology innovation, and the ability to transform the world, by shipping more and more high-performance processor and software tools, Intel has been to enhance people's work and life experience, in particular by the end of 2005, with the announcement of multi-core architecture, a new ear of Parallelism was coming and this architecture has promoted huge changes in software design. Here I would like to express my gratitude to Intel for her great support of Wuhan University in students' creative ability training.

From 2004, WHU has launched a close co-operation with Intel, in the past 5 years, based on the theme of "Collaboration, Development and Innovation", WHU has attended some Intel University Program such as XScale, EIA, IXA and Multi-core, and has set up the "Wuhan University-Intel Embedded Technology Lab" and "Wuhan University-Intel Multi-core Technology Lab" and training more than 200 undergraduate students each year. Our cooperation takes many form and rich in content and fruitful achievements.

The effective cooperation can promote better development. Development is the purpose and the source of innovation.
We have carried out flexible and diverse forms of cooperation with Intel. Up to now, more than 16 person/times Intel Engineers have been to WHU for lectures, more than 25 person/times our teachers have attended some training workshops or forums held by Intel. And WHU has undertaken Intel technology training workshops 3 times with 156 attendees from universities, and etc, all those activities have achieved a good result. Lectures by Intel engineers were warmly welcomed by our students, and those technical training workshops have also received a high evaluation from attendees.

The collaboration with Intel has an effective promotion of curriculum building in WHU, the undergraduate curricula "Multi-core Architecture and Multi-threaded Programming" was awarded as the "MOE-Intel Model Curriculum" in 2007. We have done plenty of course building works such as Teaching group, Theory, Lab projects, Textbooks, Courseware, Website and Questions library and etc. In this building process we have formed our characteristic which is to apply multi-core programming technologies to electronic engineering area such as Remote Sensor to solve practical problems and improve program performance. Continuous accumulation of multi-core programming practice has given great support to our teaching experience.
Wuhan University, as one of the Seed Universities of Intel Multi-core University Program, has responsibility to assist professors from universities located in the central of China, in the Mid-west of China and in the Northwest of China, to build their multi-core related courses. We have organized training workshops more than 3 times and all those events have got very positive feedbacks.
In the process of continuous development, students' innovative capacity has improved much more. With multi-core skills, our students have obvious advantage in looking for a job, and the employment rate and the quality have markedly improved. In 2008 "Intel Cup Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest- Embedded System Design Invitational Contest", after furious competition, Wuhan University teams came to the fore and its works were awarded the first, the second and the third prize.
We are looking forward to keeping these good relations with Intel and having greater developments in the future, with our efforts, we hope to train more high-tech talents.
