If you're here, then you're at our new and improved (completely revamped, really) blog environment. The link is the same - intel.com/software/blogs - but we've moved to WordPress, and made some other changes to make the Intel Software Blogs more readable and usable, both for you, the readers, and for the authors as well.
Who the heck am I? My name is Josh Bancroft, and I'm the "Social Media Evagelist" for ISN. Basically, I'm the resident blogging/podcasting/video/wiki geek. My personal blog is over at www.tinyscreenfuls.com, and I'll also be blogging here. I've been with Intel for seven years, but only just started with the Intel Software Network group. Here's a post about my new job, but I can sum it up in short: This is my dream job, and I can't wait to make Intel Software Network the best, most fun, most useful community on the web for anything software related.
I've got lots of ideas, which I'll be trying out, and I'm always looking for comments and suggestions. I'm very reachable - you can email me at joshua.bancroft@intel.com, or even call my cell phone at 503-334-1889. Let me know what you think of the place, or if you have a killer idea that you think we should implement. Thanks! :-)

Much, much prettier than the old version! Way cleaner! Congratulations, guys. Two complaints, though: 1. you should really lose the "continued" links and partial posts layout -- I want to be able to skim through all your last posts on one page, without having to click on each of them to see if I'm interested 2. invert "name" and "e-mail" in the comment form fields -- you're going to get loads of people filling it wrong because it's in the opposite order to roughly all the blogging/commenting systems out there. Will continue dropping in and keeping an eye on what you're doing! |

Oh, and line-breaks in the comments would be really nice too :-) Stock wordpress does it, not quite sure what you did to the poor blogging engine... |

Robyn Tippins | I'm very happy to see this new layout. I can't wait to see how pics work in it. Just the fact that I can easily see the newest posts of the entire network is exciting to me. I'd love to see tabs at the top for the different communities, and have that page be an aggregation of the newest posts in that community only. Congratulations, I'm sure it was a great deal of work :) |

Robyn Tippins | OK, found another thing I'd love. I can't right click on some of the words as they are flash. I understand why you'd want flash, in order to make the fonts the same across any browser. But the inability to right click and open some names in a new tab in Firefox is mildly annoying. |

Hi Josh - so glad to have you on the team. A blogger running a blogging effort. How un-Intel is that! :-) I'm thrilled that we switched to WordPress (although this installation has its limitations... still trying to figure out which ones I'm annoyed about enough to complain), but I'm thrilled - this is a million miles better than what we had before. |

@ Stephanie and Robyn - thanks for those suggestions - I'm working on getting them implemented. I agree with all of them - they bug me, too. :-) @ Dirk - thanks! It is a pretty crazy thing for Intel to do, isn't it? But that's why I took this job. ISN is WAY ahead of other efforts at Intel (not to disparage others - they're doing great things!). But I'm looking forward to seeing how far we can push the envelope with social media at ISN. Should be fun. :-) |

Josh, When we created the IT@Intel blogs (http://blogs.intel.com/it/), we addressed a lot of the comments about design that I see above. I'm happy to share the process that we went through at Textura Design (http://texturadesign.com), just let me know. |

| I'm personally going to make sure this Wordpress install works great, and rolemodels everything I have been hoping Intel would move to for a long time for it's public websites. |

@ Mike - thanks - I'm really glad to hear that, and we're already so close to having a truly awesome blogging system. I'll do whatever I can to help you! @ Robyn, re: category tabs - while it's not the same as tabs across the top, you can click on each of the category names listed in the sidebar (not the feed icon), and see an aggregated page of all posts in that category. |
