Open Source Linux Software Driver for ME interface

Linux software Drivers for the Management Engine (ME) Interface (it used to be called Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI)) is now available. You can read more about this announcement in Anas Nasif's blog. Anas works in the Intel Open Source Technology Center and he is one of the key guys behind making the ME driver on Linux available. ME driver is primarily used to convey messages between the host software and Intel AMT.

From one of my previous blog posts "Let us talk about HECI and LMS?"

Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI ) driver is a software interface that is used to communicate to the AMT subsystem (Management Engine) to access AMT capabilities. Communication between the local host operating system (OS) and the ME is accomplished by means of the HECI driver. HECI is bi-directional, as either the host OS or Intel AMT firmware can initiate transactions.
