When I first started to understand and learn more about Intel AMT and how it all works- I got access to a power-point presentation with some very cool animations of Intel AMT Use Cases that I really thought was helpful. We converted parts of that presentation to a useful flash animated demo that demonstrates how AMT helps manage PCs from an IT console. I really hope that you will find this demo of some Intel AMT use cases as helpful as I did.
The use cases covered in the demo are:
Remote asset inventory: IT administrators can count/audit networked PCs (Platform Audit) anytime of the day or night even when the PCs are powered down or the OS is inoperable.
Hardware and software inventory: Inventory hardware and software assets more accurately on a given PC. Hardware Inventory like: Hard-drive make and model, Memory size and speed, CPU type and speed, BIOS, etc. and Software Inventory like Virus software version, Management software version, OS version, etc.
Remote diagnostics and repair: Remotely boot, diagnose, repair, and restore PCs down-the-wire and reduce on-site visits. IT administrators can either remotely diagnose and remotely repair problems with client machines regardless of the system state thus eliminating the need for on-site visits or reduce technician desk side visits by remotely diagnosing an issue and determining the make and model information of the client out-of-band, thus reducing troubleshooting hours and user downtime.
Agent presence checking: Keep software agents operating correctly. This will keep the OS-based software agents in place automatically and will stop vulnerable agents from being tampered with or disabled. This is how it works: A third-party management agent sends out a "heartbeat" to the PC's management engine (ME) to let it know the agent is present and working. If no heartbeat is detected after a period of time definable using a "watchdog" timer”the PC immediately logs the event and alerts the IT management console to the fact, so IT can take corrective action.
Encrypted, Remote Power-On & Update:Allows enterprise IT administrators to automate the task of keeping software and virus protection consistent and up-to-date across all systems on the network (Software version compliance) even those systems that are powered down through secure, remote power-on/power-off capabilities.
Hardware-Based Isolation and Recovery:Filter harmful viruses and isolate infected PCs. Take advantage of the built--in platform capabilities such as programmable filters that detect and stop known malware from affecting clients and propagating into the network.

Hi bkamlin, DTK is currently not available for download because of some technical issues. We are working on making this available on the community as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. |
