Really impressed with a small new company Voice Tech Group, two brothers built a impressive voice search application, it really works and has several other useful voice features.  Finally you can talk to your PC and ask your favorite search engine for information.   Try it out, it is free www.voicetechgroup.com works with Win XP, keep it going guys, look forward to your next product.

Along these lines it would be great if there was an on the fly voice recognition system for cell phones. Perhaps Silverthorne will blaze this path?

I envision a future where every word uttered is converted from analog text to digital text. A script of your life -- and separating the two parties should be fairly easy since their are two inputs: mic and receiver.

Converting to text will overcome the amount of space mp3s would require and it would also make it easily searchable. I believe Samsung tried something a few years ago, but this is something that could require a fair bit of horsepower.

It would also be nice to have cameras in the earpiece so that we could record everything on the fly rather than holding up the cell phone and looking silly.

Of course, there are a few thorny legal issues since in many states it is illegal to record a third party without their permission, so perhaps a pre-recorded voice says, "Your conversation is now being recorded, if you do not wish to be recorded please hang up now."
