It's me, mobile developer community manager

This is my 1st blog on ISN and Internet.

I am Jason Zhu, mobile developer community manager on Intel Software Network, I took over this job from Aaron Tersteeg a couple months ago while I moved from Intel China to Oregon. Before I moved to the US, I had worked at Intel China for more than 10 years, most recently was manager of Intel Asia Pacific Wireless Competency Center responsible for driving the solution enabling and market development for Intel Cellular and Handheld biz in China and Asia, that products were known as Intel XScale application or cellular processors. In the last 4 years, I have worked various types of vendors in wireless ecosystem to deliver many exciting stuffs, 1st PPC phone(dopod 686) in China, 1st windows mobile smartphone(mio 8380), moto's Linux phone series, portable media player, handheld gaming console, etc. Intel announced to sell Cellular and handheld business unit to Marvell in Jun 2006, and I supported the transition to Marvell till Nov, 2006. And most of my former team members decided to join Marvell for continuing their career in mobile phone area.

My family and I have been in the US for 6 months. Though I still work at same Intel Corp, there are lots of difference between division in the US v.s. sale & marketing group in China. I spent much time in learning Intel Software Network and Community manager job, got great help from Bill Pearson, Aaron Tersteeg, Jen Teal and whole exciting team. Most recently we started to work with O'Reilly people(Jon Mountjoy, Ann Allen) to grow the engaging mobile developer community by taking advantage of key principles of web 2.0. One suggestion for me is to spend more time with people on community instead meeting with internal persons.

 Thanks. I am glad to be here.
iPhone is a kind of converged mobile gadget that people are expecting, and it will be toughed and played by end-users very sooner. Many companies had the similar ideas and concepts on converged devices, portable entertainment, big screen, Internet accessing, friendly UI, wireless connection, reasonable price, longer battery life, etc. so far no single device can satisfy all the needs. But it is evolving... We will see more exciting gadgets in the coming years.
Intel has exciting mobile platform solution to embrace the fast growth of Mobile Internet market. I will share with you in my next blog.

China is one of biggest mobile and PC market, and also Olympic Beijing in 08. I look forward to hearing more cool things from you about China. Dan Li's Blog post about UMPC/MID is interesting.

That's good to create the training course for MID software development.
What's your idea on curriculum? We may share our idea with software developers and learn what do they think?

It'll be interesting to see how the mobile space shapes up and whether the x86 architecture will ultimately dominate within the mobile space.

Lord knows (no pun intended) I'd sure like to be able to easily navigate between cell phone and laptop.

Mr. Jackson		 Greetings.

I saw the article on LinuxDevices.com (http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS9302797289.html) about Intel launching it's mobile initiative. While GTK, Moblin and Hildon were mentioned as development tools, I think Intel should approach Borland or CodeGear to get Kylix restarted. This would greatly ease development for the mobile platform.
