Again, we have released many new software tools and articles on mobile developer community in the last month. We released 1st Intel UI tools for UMPC software - UMPC evaluator tool 1.0, which help you determine how portable your software applications is to an available UMPC device.

Are you familiar with Intel Power Performance Monitor Gadget for Google Desktop, which has gotten thousands of downloads every week? Rich Winterton has released the sample code which he used to create the gadget software. If you want to make your application to be aware of notebook client, the sample code gives the quick way to start.

Create Energy Efficient Apps:
Power Consumption and Wireless Connectivity are two key platform features for Notebook, and for software application designed for notebook. A new article of "Creating Energy Efficient Applications" examines software methodologies, design, and software development tools that can be used to improve the energy efficiency of application software and extend mobile platform battery time. Computational efficiency, data efficiency, and context-aware methods can all contribute to creating applications that are power-aware. As well as, we can learn how to optimize your software applications for better power consumption from the list of technical articles.

Intel Mobile Platform SDK 1.2:
If you want to fully utilize the mobile platform features in your software applications, please check out the Intel Mobile Platform SDK 1.2. The software has been downloaded by more than 1000 persons in the 1st month after the project being launched. The MPSDK engineers have updated and published two articles "Making Applications aware of their Mobile Contexts using the Intel Mobile Platform SDK" and "Intel® Mobile Platform SDK: Monitor Connectivity Status". The 1st article provides an overview of the Mobile Platform SDK, as well as several code examples showing how to add power and connectivity awareness to your application; and the 2nd article and sample code provided in the article demonstrate how to use the Intel Mobile Platform SDK to obtain information concerning a system's network connectivity status.
Joe Zhao, Intel engineer for MPSDK 1.2, has shared "How to Build Runtime environment for MPSDK" on his Blog.
Many bugs of MPSDK 1.2 have been updated on the project site, eg. "LinkProtocol Error" & "Connectivity Error" on Vista. Our Engineers will be working on those critical issues and fixing those in future release.

Blogs:
Joe Zhao & Bin Zhu continue sharing the stuffs about Mobile Platform SDK 1.2 open source project. Bin said that we were considering Linux OS version Mobile Platform SDK as seeing lots of open source developers working on Linux, is this what you are looking for? Joe told us some techniques to start the MPSDK tools.
Jonas Kollberg shares his experience and view on Mobile TV usage on mobile devices(notebook, UMPC, etc.) on his Blog Post "World Championships". Will mobile TV a next killer application for mobile clients, which technologies or standards will be widely adopted?
"Game Demo Contest Winners-Wow!" tells us the amazing stuffs we got from this year game demo contest, and the story behind the scenes.

Forums:
Some interesting questions have been raised on the Mobilized Software Forum.

Intel Game Demo Contest ended; there is the list of Best Game on the Go. Please check out to see how game developers detect the mobile platform features and adapt their game titles to notebook and UMPCs.
