Hello! My name is Jeff Moriarty, and I'm taking over as the Mobile Community Manager from Jason Zhu, who is moving back to China. For background, I've been at Intel 8 years, all of that time in our Information Technology (IT) group. My degree is in Computer Science, but I've worked in a wide range of roles here from Information Security to program management. My most recent job was as the "Social Media Architect" internally, which is what drew me to ISN and their work here.
While I have a lot of background in Social Media (aka Web 2.0) and have already blogged externally for Intel on our IT@Intel site and Open Port, I'm very new to the "mobile" side of things. This makes the role both exciting and a bit intimidating. I have to learn Intel's mobile product offerings, industry trends, other key sites, development concerns, existing community members, what's worked and what hasn't, and a lot more. Fortunately I love a good challenge, and the topic appeals to the techie in me. Plus I'm shamelessly hoping it means I get to play around with a lot of cool gadgets.
As I ramp up, please excuse any growing or learning pains, and let me know if I miss something important. I'll do my best to keep the technical content flowing onto the site and get engaged in the community as I study furiously in the background. In fact, you're reading this blog I'd love any help you're willing to offer. For example:
Any and all feedback and comments is most appreciated.
Lastly, I want to thank Jason for a fantastic job in developing the community and bringing together so much great content. I hope to continue to build on his foundation, and make this an ever more valuable resource for everyone involved in mobile development.
Cheers!

@Jonathan - I'm excited about a number of the interesting challenges in the mobile space that I've been learning about, and the MIDs are definitely high on my list. I think I'm going to be on that "enthusiast" list myself here pretty quick, so I'll start poking around inside Intel and see what I can do. Are there some sites already rolling that I should get involved in? I've already noted UMPC Buzz and Pocket Info linked to this, so I'll have to wander over there and check them out. |

Welcome and congratulations!
I'm hoping you guys will do a formal blogger outreach with the upcoming MIDs. This is an exciting category and one in which you can really take a leadership role. There's a good base of enthusiasts in the wings ... just waiting to help spread the word!
