Bill | Very cool demos. It's great to see Intel hardware running sw you'd expect to see on a console. The booth had Guitar Hero whaling away the entire time, which made for a rocking ambience. DreamFlyer and Crysis demos were well worth the time to check out. Wish I could be here later in the week! |

The Intel Booth is pretty cool - right in the open they've got a plane simulator in which you sit down and shift your weight to fly the plane. There is also some good Guitar Hero 3 action going on. I also <3 the chairs, which look like a mix between old diner and art deco styles. |

Nick Mellos | The Intel Booth was really well setup. They had everything people wanted. Games to play, free demos, free soda, and the staff were pretty friendly. It was a real nice booth to hang around in. Well done! |

Neil Schneider | Every time I leave, I end up coming back! ;=) I'm all about gaming in stereoscopic 3D (REAL 3D), and it is a real pleasure to see Intel and TDVision (makers of Head Mounted Display solutions) side by side in the same lounge. There is also a cool flight simulator chair here that shifts with your weight with your joystick control. There is also a great Guitar Hero duelling guitar thing going on here too. So, game immersion seems to be key here - lots of fun! Finally, the ONLY lounge with four kinds of Mountain Doo! |

Aaron Saluk | I really appreciate the laid back atmosphere that intel provided at their lounge. The people were very friendly and helpful. It offered a unique opportunity to relax in the midst of a bustling convention floor. |

I just finsihed my first flight in the DreamFlyer at the Intel booth and disocvered it to be a delightful experience. In a nutshell, it uses MS Flight Simulator and three screens plus the DreamFlyer, a metal framework which is carefully balanced so that your instinctive movements as you manipiulate the stick cause the "plane" to bank and roll much as a real plane would. I'm goinng to recommend this for our local science museum, the Imaginaroium in Nevada City. This is areal neat device, and may prove very entertaining for armchair pilot who still want to see the world. Doug Keachie farstars.blogspot.com |

Great experience at Studio 45. Farcry2 & Bionic Commando at the North Hall booth are well worth a look. And if you're an artist, go check out how Max and Maya run on the new Skulltrail systems. In all serious, my first GDC experience has been awesome. Lots of great networking. Hopefully we're leaving no doubt that Intel is here to make all aspects of game development easier and more robust. |

Mark Ribau | Checked out the flight sim chair and the head mounted displays. The head mounted displays are great with such a high resolution, but built in (or attached) head tracking would be a great upgrade or addition for less nauseating experience (for nicer camera control). Integrating both the flight sim, HMD, and head tracking would be an incredibly immersive experience. |

Gina Bovara (Intel) | Day THREE! Wow, so much is going on there's almost no time to blog about it all. The lunch crowd is hanging around in the booth right now and just finished hearing one of our lounge tech talks, which have been very successful. Our Guitar Hero 3 has been busy non-stop and I saw someone get 200k points today! Looking forward to heading over to the Intel booth at the expo which opened today - what I have been waiting to see is the eight-core Skulltrail system! |

I was impressed with the level of organisation of the event. I would like more of an educational focus, specifically inofrmation on how to obtain sponsorships. DC |

The Aquatic Jew | What a great convention. It's absolutely enormous this year! I've had a lot of fun so far running around and catching up with old friends as well as meeting new ones, and seeing all the latest and greatest stuff that's being released. At the intel booth (actually, where I am right now) They had a really cool virtual car racing thing. It was a little hot when I wore it (I think sweat builds up inside, and after 3 days of people wearing it tends to be a litte... warm. But other than that it was a lot of fun. I even got a little dizzy. :) Great stuff! And of course, I've enjoyed getting to eat all my favorite foods again, that I can only get in California. Round Table Pizza, Carl's Jr... ahhh, good stuff. |

That was awesome! I came by Studio 45 early enough in the morning to slip into a seriously fun little VR experience with no waiting. It was a racing game-- delivered in a comfy chair equipped with speakers, a little butt-rumble pad to make the inevitable learning crashes more startling, and of course VR goggles. The goggles were totally new to me, since I've always been interested in a VR experience but never really had access to the technology to play with it, and I'm pleased to say these worked well for me. There was some vertigo when the camera angle changed rapidly on sharp turns, but just enough to be enjoyable; between that and the sounds by each ear, my brain was pretty successfully fooled into some nice immersion in the gameworld. When I looked down to check the controls, however, the goggles left me room to see clearly without compromising the video quality at all. Overall, a nice balance. I had to do it twice. No, it didn't break-- I'm not familiar with the controller, being more of a PC gamer without those steel-hard Xbox thumb muscles, and so pride demanded that I try to beat my first score after the test run. They were kind enough to let me have a second race, since it was too early for a line--but my advice is to get here early so you can do it too, because you're going to want to. |

Cara | This is my first year actually having time away from my project to attend GDC. It's fantastic. Every lecture I have attended has been inspiring and given me so many things to think about in regard to my own projects. The people have all been great too. You would think tensions would get high with so many people packed into one place, but with so many awesome things to do and see nobody seems to care. Get here next year! |

Gina Bovara (Intel) | Day FOUR! The weather is dreary outside but there are thousands having fun inside here at GDC 2008! It was a great morning - Mike (another Intel employee) landed a 747 at O'Hare airport in Chicago on the Dreamflyer and a large crowd gathered to watch - it was very cool. We're preparing for the lunch rush when people get out of their technical sessions -- we have plenty of Mountain Dew (four kinds!) and are ready for more engaging technical conversations! |

Michael Craig | GDC-08 has been quite the experiance. This is my first one and I've gotta say it makes me look forward to coming to them year after year. Unfortunately so far I have missed out on the after parites this year but its not over yet thankfully. The people here have definitely made the experiance go over the top. They are just proff that this industry is perfect for todays modern students intrested in technology. With ground breaking technology being developed at an incredible rate to help satisfy the growing demands of the gaming communnity. Intel has also been the friendliest of all the booths so far, they are the first to interact with you and make you feel at home here. They also have some of the best demo's. The only unfortunate part of this experiance is the food, I mean the prices were outragous but thats ok because there is plenty to eat outside of the conference. Well I think I have typed too much so I am just gonna say I loved this experiance and I look forward to the next and all of the free stuff I will get then too. |

George Kurelic | I was at the intel booth and they had guitar hero 3 running on an intel processor and i started playing dragonforce on expert. i didnt even realize that there was a crowd of people behind me. they were all cheering me on and started clapping when i beat it. it was pretty cool. apparently i was the first to do it so they gave me a bunch of cool stuff. |

Hey, today is the first day I've been able to spend in Cafe 45 - the fun factor here is about as high as I've ever seen in a booth. A great match-making opportunity as folks step up to the bar and get amped on Tuarine-laced drinks. Sad to say I missed Siggraph this year so it's been great to run into folks like Michael Tigar who I first met way back from Rhythm & Hues - and Sony Imageworks. Great news about ProjectOffset - make sure you "click on the lizard" wherever you see it, and you'll know what's going on there. I'll be on the conference floor tomorrow morning and back at Studio 45 noon-closing on Friday - stop by! - Pitz |
| February 21, 2008 5:50 PM PST
Jason Anderson | George -- you beat Dragonforce? On Expert? And you're _surprised_ about the crowd? I bow down to today's guitar hero. |
| February 22, 2008 9:50 AM PST
Mike Rodriguez |
Thank God for the intel amp operation. I am marginally certain that with the amount of booze and lack of sleep I would be dead without these guys. Also, good to know it's the last day and I can finally lay down and die...or catch my 6 AM flight back to Savannah GA, which is just amazing. Oh well, another GDC down the tubes. Puppy Hugs FTW. -Mike |

@George I agree with Jason. Beating Dragonforce on expert, in front of a crowd, is quite the accomplishment. The stuff of YouTube legend - as in, that's the only place I've ever seen it done, and I always suspect it's a bot. ;-) Huge props for your GH skillz! ;-) |
| February 22, 2008 10:33 AM PST
Gina Bovara (Intel) | Day FIVE! We made it to the last day! Thank you Mountain Dew Amp energy drink. The mood here in the booth this morning is mellow and people are just chillin with Guitar Hero 3 and the Crysis demos. There are plenty of folks relaxing in the lounge couch area with their laptops and having conversations; I think everyone is glad it's Friday! |

Thanks to all the attendees who ventured through the Intel Studio 45 lounge over this LONNGGGGG week. Had some great conversations and met a lot of FABulous folks. We had some regulars that bellied up to our bar daily for their Mountain Dew fix and sharing of GDC stories. And truthfully, they made it easy to work at the lounge every day. Rahul (MyDreamFlyer), Ethan and Mitesh (TDVision) -- guys it has been a great time with you in the lounge! You put in the same long hours as we did... to make it a fun experience for attendees. Couldn't have done it without you. CAs in the Pink shirts -- Thanks for all your help and energy. It was great to see your enthusiasm... I know you are as tired as we are. Game Development UNLEASHED!! |

Pitz | It's noon on the last day - but the show doesn't seem to be winding down yet - more crowded on the floor than ever. I'm hearing the show is somewhere around 20% larger than last year. Ran into Kevin Schooler from back in the animation/instructor days - now taking on a whole new adventure for Autodesk in Singapore. Congrats Kev - that is one long trek from Burbank! |

Chris Funk | As a GDC CA, I just want to say thank you for having the Intel Lounge here on the 3rd floor by the CA lounge. It's been a great place to come and hang out between shifts when there isn't much time to see anything else. And if that weren't enough, the staff here are awesome! Thanks guys! |
| February 22, 2008 1:16 PM PST
Nick | Its my first time here, only made it for friday but I'm havin a great time. Never played crysis before I stopped by the intel booth, but wow! There are a lot of people here, seems like everybody's enjoying themselves. |

Giggles (aka Diana) | Just ending my 3rd day in the Intel Lounge @ GDC and what blast it has been. We have had non-stop traffic thru the lounge to check out & play games (especially Guitar Hero III), listen to experts, drink different flavors of Mt. Dew and just relax in between sessions. The GH3 has been very popular and at times really good players drawing in crowds of ~30 people to watch them complete a song. We should definitely plan to do this next year for the attendees. All the staff have been great and Kelly has been awesome. A final note: "happy "4 0" to our good friend George Woo!! This has been a blast and deserves a 100% notes hit, Intel "YOU ROCK!" |
| February 22, 2008 3:05 PM PST
Calvin Pinsuwan | I can't get enough of Guitar Hero, you should grab Rock Band next time, I'm sure you'll be packed every day if you did. |
| February 22, 2008 3:08 PM PST
Pitz | Th- th- th- that's all folks! Great show! Goodbye all from Studio 45 at GDC 2008!!! |

| Just wanted to congratulate Intel and the lounge team for a great result at GDC this year, and to offer my thanks for allowing TGC to show off our wares and talk a little about the future of multi-core to the lounge guests. I especially enjoyed the video session, and will be looking forward to seeing what I look like in front of the camera :) Thanks also for the meal, and if you can send me the photo from John's Grill I would like to get it in our newsletter if I have permission. Once again, I had a superb time and I look forward to GDC09 (if I get permission to leave my dungeon next year that is). P.S. Thanks for the power drinks, they kept me going!! |

Rick (Vectorpedia) | I was very impressed with Studio 45 and the entire event........three cheers to all |

A line is starting to form behind the Dreamflyer flight simulation demo. The flight sim has three 24 inch screens and a "cockpit" that responds to the flight movements. It's running Microsoft Flight Sim X and the monitors have excellent resolution -- showing the view in three panels -- like in an actual cockpit. You can check your 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock all in one glance. This is going to be a hit.
