200M+ mobiles in india - a software opportunity?

Mobility: Best tech adoption story in an emerging market
One of the best technology adoption stories which spans the breadth of Indian society seems to be the mobile phones. Also, The rapid rate of adoption of Notebooks in the Indian corporate and Consumers is one of the fastest in the region. Corporate and Consumers are clearly going mobile and want their data and entertainment with them while wanting to stay connected.

The insatiable demand for broadband and the contrast of installed base is an interesting problem for service providers as they ramp their investments and service levels. At a WW level by end of 2007 there were over a Billion Internet users spending an average of about 30+ hrs per month online. One of the key transitions a good portion of the Indian 200M+ mobile phone adopters will undergo is the use of data services and access to internet for work and play.

As users start to demand more of the internet experience on their mobile devices, it creates new category of Mobile Internet devices which allow users to carry the internet in their pockets or purses
This category creates a very interesting opportunity for Software professionals to create applications for the new mobile platforms. It also creates a Software crisis as over Billion phones sold a year but today the opportunity to tap into it is highly fragmented.

With moblin.org we bring about an interesting platform where users can contribute openly and benefit from an open source platform. Moblin is a feature-rich open source software platform that delivers the “full internet” and media experience for mobile internet devices. It provides offers binary compatibility that allow applications to run seamlessly across the compliant OS offerings. I would invite the readers to visit the www.moblin.org and www.intel.com/software sites to get more of the info and create your mark in the new mobile ecosystem

The session is really Amazing. This is my first session of its kind in mobile technology and this has seeded me the strong desire to design and contribute to the future mobile technology advancements.
This is good in terms of demos which were shown and it would be better it has a chance for a lab session of the participants who can have real touch in to the greatest INTEL technology of MID’s.

Thanks to the great session.

Seminar & Session is very interactive & informative. Its address to all business community (starting college students, professionals, development team, testing team, managers, strategic leaders to market vendors). It has the required depth and bredth of context of what is happening in mobile world. The session has taken lot of pain in collecting existing market data, pain areas and performance issues and come up with best way of managing the user expectations in terms of communication, entertainment & navigation using one tool and one entity “mobilin” – Its great award to new generation and we all would be better “mobile” using this initiative and life is mobile and mobilin brings the community to mobile junction to share and collaborate the culture better much better.
