Especially here in Germany Gears of War is one the most imported games for Xbox as it's not being distributed by Microsoft to the German market due to legal matters. And of course the sequel "Gears of War 2" is one the most awaited gaming title for Microsoft‘s console. Needless to mention that the game won‘t be sold in Germany. Austrians game resellers will love to hear that.

You will probably ask yourself, why I'm telling this?! Well, 'cause we went to Michael Capps' GCDC'08 keynote this afternoon where he offered deep insight of the making of Gears of War 2. This guy is real fun, and the huge crowd following his words as if he was the Messias appreciated his presentation a lot. Quite often his speech was accompanied by laughter.

As Michael told us during his session many changes have been made in order to make Gears of War 2 even better, more thrilling and more playable than its predecessor. But there‘s even more about Gears of War 2:

  • Epic spent more time on the question how to compete in quality, not in size.
  • The production time was quite short given the fact that people expect a lot of GoW2.
  • GoW2 will not doubling the guns and weapons.
  • The sequel will be successful as its predecessor.
  • You have to have the best guns, not the most.
  • GoW 2 was broken down into several game play systems in order to optimize the different elements of the whole game.
  • The whole story is much better now than in the first part.
  • GoW2 is all about "intimate fighting"!
  • The game will be easier to play then before!
  • The co-op elelements will be even more fun than in part one!
  • GoW2 will not have a "capturing the flag" mode!
  • And there will probably be a Monster Truck!

So, wait and keep an eye out for Gears of War 2. And if you live in Germany please contact your Austrian reseller ...
