Take Five Videos: 150k Views, and Back to the Beginning?
By Amy Barton (Intel) (25 posts) on October 1, 2008 at 7:13 am
The Take Five Video program reached 150k views since we launched with short technical videos in February this year. It has been fabulous to see our views go up each month and other sites referring to and embedding our videos. Thank you.
We launched a new video hosting platform on Sept. 25th with the update you've seen across the Intel Software Network. All of the videos successfully migrated over to the new hosing site, however the posting dates, categorizations, and thumbnail images were lost. All videos, new and old, showed Sept. 22-24 as their posting dates with scrambled categories. In the words of Inigo Montoya, we had to "go back to the beginning," migrating, and re-migrating until everything came out the right way. Kudos to our web development team, a.k.a. Westley and Fezzik, who have restored order to Florin, uh, I mean the Take Five Site."
Take a look at the new site to see new features including unique URLs for each video and category, category RSS feeds, and buttons making it easier to share, embed, and leave comments. We have also launched a syndication program of the videos, so now you'll find them all on YouTube, GoogleVideos, and Blip.TV. A few other capabilities such as the link to blogs and downloads will be restored in the next few weeks on Take Five.
I'd love to hear from you about what you like, and don't like about the new video site. We have time to make changes.
I'm listening. So is Westley... "As...you...wish....!"
[Note: Princess Bride analogies aside, credits go to Shashin Shah and Rakesh Kumar and team for their long development hours to make this work.]
