Look forward to reading the updates.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your update! I'm glad to see that Intel is working on the drivers. It should be great to have access to the beta drivers as soon as they become avaible, for us to have directX enabled, and for intel to get feedback of the beta testers.
I'll check your blog for updates!
Thank you again.
Johan

This is causing a huge pain for myself and quite a few other users with the 915 chipset... I figure the least that could be done is update the drivers so that there isn't handicapped functionality with video playback. I feel like it's not TOO much to ask for the 915 chipset to be able to play video in windows 7. Thanks for your time

I agree with ppk, this is all we (honorable owners of 915 chipsets) need - to be able to watch video with hardware acceleration on without problems (system freeze). Aero and other fancy stuff does not matter much;)

Guys,

I Have a Dell Inspiron 1525, and I Can make it Work PERFECT!
.
intel has released driver installation apps for all of its chipsets
find your exe file for your video adapter on the site of your manufacturer
save the file on your computer, open it in compatibility mode for vista
install, restart. and EVERYTHING works completly.

Enjoy!!!

Ignoring 915 chipset owners, the 945 graphics chipset is a relatively important device to have up-to-date drivers for. Every netbook using the Intel Atom processor uses that chipset.

14 million sales in 2008 is hard to ignore.

Don't hold your breath with Intel. Right now, the best bet is to accept the 915 driver from Windows Update (reinstall if u have to in order to get it) then right click desktop>Screen Resolution>Advanced>Troubleshooting>Change Settings and move the Acceleration slider 2-3 positions from the left, or whatever works for you to avoid the WMP hanging. You will get slightly reduced playback quality, but after testing five other players, none give as rich color and allow close to full screen playback except WMP.
The complaints here about the 915/945 drivers will test how responsive a major corporation like Intel will be to consumer demand. Their fallback position with Vista to ignore us so we buy up is intolerable since Windows 7 is, at last, the OS which can run quite well on old laptops and p.c.'s. Thanks to Doug Holland for your efforts, and please let's keep this thread alive so we can see exactly how Intels with a concern so pressing for tech enthusiasts yet not immediately enriching to corporate coffers.

Doug, this is feedback/cry for help on Intel's Windows 7 driver wrt mobo DG45FC.
The driver does not handle the res of 1280x768 properly - all the timings are wrong.
Also there are no contrast or gamma controls.
The latest Vista driver (when used on Vista on DG45FC) is fine.
Given this is supposed to be a supported mobo, can anyone, confirm/deny the problem or point at a solution.
Very grateful for your help.

I have successfully installed the Windows7 Beta, but when trying to install the motherboard driver CD, {GIGABYTE Intel 945 S-series Ver.1.15} it says failed to install drivers. Can anyone help me.

My simple and straight questions are:

How to make Windows7 and Intel 945 S-series compatible, so that i can have the full experience of Windows7 with Gigabyte motherboard and Intel 945?

Does anyone know what other drivers are required for Windows7 smooth running?

Are there any Touch screen drivers for windows7 from Intel?
