Microsoft seems to be nearing the release of the Windows 7 beta after a link to download the beta appeared on the Windows 7 homepage today. Could it be that we'll be able to download build 7000.0.081212-1400 sometime later today?
At the time of writing there is no download link on the Windows Server 2008 R2 homepage, the server version of Windows 7, which is also expected to reach the beta one milestone at the same time.
All of this said however, and James O'Neill (Microsoft) is still saying that “Those who know aren’t talking and those who talk don’t know”. I'll readily admit I'm in the group that doesn't know... Guess we'll have to just wait and see...
Personally I would assume that only a small group of beta testers will see the beta build before Steve Ballmer's keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which will occur on January 7th 2009.
