According to the Windows Team Blog the Windows 7 Release Candidate, build 7100, will be available to download from MSDN and TechNet on April 30th. If you're not an MSDN or TechNet subscriber then you'll be able to download the build on May 5th.
It is also likely that Windows Server 2008 R2 RC, also build 7100, will be available to download from MSDN and TechNet on April 30th.

Vitaly, next month. Redmond Developer News Online: Two Runtimes Too Many? (http://reddevnews.com/blogs/print.aspx?blog=3816) RDN Express Two Runtimes Too Many? The .NET 4.0 Framework is expected in beta soon, and with it improvements to both the CLR and the BCL. April 2009 · posted by Kathleen Richards With .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5, Microsoft stacked its new libraries and tooling on the .NET 2.0 Base Class Libraries (BCL) and Common Language Runtime (CLR) that shipped with Visual Studio 2005, in what the company called a "layer cake" model. This time around, the CLR is getting a major upgrade, jumping from .NET 2.0 to .NET 4.0. The .NET 4.0 Framework is expected in beta next month along with VS 2010 and will likely have a go-live license before the end of the year, according to several sources. Microsoft has been strangely quiet on the new framework since the Professional Developers Conference community technology previews (CTPs) in October. |

Hey Vitaly, I'm also waiting on the beta for VS2010 and it will be a great addition to the Windows 7 RC although at the moment Microsoft hasn't commented publically on when we can expect the beta. If you're unable to attend Microsoft TechEd 2009 then I'd recommend trying to tune into the keynote online or check out the blogosphere that morning in case there is any news. I'll be there myself and will be blogging throughout the conference... Regards, Doug |

Hey Senthil, I'd recommend waiting until the official release of the Windows 7 RC build (build 7100) and try that, you should also contact Dell and see what they suggest at that time. You'll find that while many Windows Vista drivers would be able to work on Windows 7 the installer will not allow the setup to continue because it is hard coded for a given operating system version number. You might want to look at the Windows Update catalog and see if you can find appropriate drivers, just realize you're using a pre-release OS and the Windows 7 drivers listed in the catalog are also pre-release ... but you know that. http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Install.aspx Regards, Doug |

Is there a new installation script for Windows 7 to be recognized as a valid OS? Two drivers will not insall - START ON LAN (SOL) and support for PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple Comunications Controller. We are Beta testing the OS on Intel's boards for stability, and anyhelp on these open issues (the only ones with drivers, BTW) will be appreciated. Thank you! |

I just wanted to quickly comment that my experience with windows 7 with an intel intergrated GMA 4500MHD Graphics controller and the latest graphic driver of intel's from windows update has been a breathtaking experience! I cannot believe how much better windows 7 (compared to vista) is and especially with the intel graphics !!! :O I just wanted to express my grattitude and THANKFULNESS to the intel developers (especially the guys behind the graphics department) - for making my windows 7 experience so GREAT! Kudos to you and keep doing a GREAT job! An intel fan, Edward |
