I wrote a book!
I didn't write the whole thing during my eight weeks of sabbatical, of course. But I was able to devote much more time to it and get the first draft in on schedule. The book has been available for pre-order from Amazon.com for a few months and is now available from the O'Reilly site (with free shipping!).
From what I remember of the writing process, it's a two-fisted, action-packed, nitro-burning, bone-crunching look at parallel and concurrent programming. You'll find romance, betrayal, roller coasters, mystery, vegetables, mystery vegetables, adventure, secret societies bent on world domination, pizza, vicious gamblers, wanton and not-so-wanton women, English churches and Parisian landmarks. (Well, maybe not ALL of those are in there.) I see George Clooney and Miley Cyrus in the film adaptation.
It's not the first book you need to read on concurrent or multithreaded programming. I recommend reading it second, after learning a bit about one of the programming models used (OpenMP, TBB, Windows Threads, Pthreads). I hope you get a copy and are able to make use of the lessons and the advice, ideas, and design methods presented.
