If you are in Portland, Oregon this week, we have ... not one, but two great events happening this week! Both events have several people from Intel speaking alongside many other industry experts.

LinuxCon September 21 - 23

LinuxCon is a general purpose Linux conference running Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to cover all things Linux.

Intel speakers include:

  • Dirk Hohndel: How to Shine in a Crowded Field & Mobile Linux Matters
  • Marcel Holtmann: New Connection Manager for Embedded Linux Systems
  • Padma Apparao: Software Taking on the Power Challenge: A Case Study
  • Andi Kleen: Linux Ongoing Evolution of Linux x86 Machine Checks
  • Arjan Van de Ven: Linux Kernel Roundtable

A few other interesting sessions include:

  • Mark Shuttleworth, Canonical: Let's Get Together: Coordinated Software Releases, The Linux Ecosystem and the Impact on the Global Marketplace
  • Matt Asay, Alfresco: Beyond the Hype: The True Cost of Linux and Open Source (Roundtable)
  • Bdale Garbee, Hewlett-Packard: The Freedom to Collaborate

Linux Plumbers Conference September 23 - 25

Linux Plumbers Conference is more focused on the Linux kernel, library, and utilities aka plumbing, and it overlaps with LinuxCon on Wednesday before continuing on Thursday and Friday. What could be better than a whole week of Linux activities?

Intel Speakers Include:

  • Keynote presenter Keith Packard
  • Unified error reporting -- A worthy goal? - Andi Kleen
  • USB 3.0 for Linux - Sarah Sharp

Other interesting sessions:

  • LAIKA keynote
  • Advanced git tutorial with Linus Torvalds

I'm planning on being at LinuxCon for at least part of the time, so say hello if you see me wandering around.
