Give the Gift of Linux Foundation Memberships to Needy Students
By Dawn M. Foster (91 posts) on December 29, 2009 at 8:00 am
Tis the season to be generous to those less fortunate. Think back to when you were a student (maybe waaay back for some) ... when you were scraping together a couple of dollars to buy lunch. With all of your money and time going toward your engineering or computer science degree, there wasn't much time left over to make loads of spending money. Now you can give something back and help a needy student get a free Linux Foundation membership.
Here's how it works:
- You buy a membership for $99 before January 31, 2010.
- You can give them the name of your needy student or let them pick one from the waiting list.
- Students can sign up for the waiting list.
Both of you get all of the benefits of an individual Linux Foundation membership:
- Linux.com email address
- Linux Foundation T-Shirt
- Ability to run for a board seat
- Great discounts: Dell, HP, Lenovo, O'Reilly, Thinkgeek, various conferences, and more
To learn more about how the Linux Foundation helps the technology industry and to watch a video with Dirk Hohndel talking about the Linux Foundation, you can read my recent post about The Linux Foundation, Intel and Open Standards.
Now, go out and help a needy student for the holidays!
