With Flash 10.1, "create once - distribute anywhere" is tantalizingly close!

Today’s release of an optimized Adobe Flash 10.1 (see the full announcement at http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/201006/06222010FlashPlayerAvailability.html), ushers in a new platform of choice flexibility for the enjoyment of rich internet content on Intel Architecture. Users of new Atom-based devices such as netbooks, and soon smart phones, TV set top boxes, tablets, and other mobile platforms on the horizon, will be able to access and consume the same rich content they currently enjoy from their Core-based desktop and laptop machines while enjoying improvements in overall system performance, including longer battery life for portable Atom-based devices.
Along with the Intel® Architecture-based hardware acceleration optimizations being implemented to the Flash player itself, a key component of that experience comes with the new open nature of Flash itself, providing the same "instant-upgradability" to the player on mobile devices that PC users have been familiar with for years. In other words, you’ll no longer be stuck with the same player version that came with your phone – a circumstance that can lead to compatibility issues as content formats change, or security risks associated with outdated versions of the player. With new Flash 10.1 enabled devices as formats update your Flash player will update too as it currently does on your PC.
For digital content creators, the optimizations and open nature of Flash 10.1 not only allows the authoring of content using familiar tools, it takes away the extra burden of “dumbing down” that content for low-power devices.
In the end – it’s a win for everyone.
