Yesterday, we launched a new update of MeshCentral.com, MeshCentral Connector and the Mesh Agent that now includes support for remote file browsing. This new feature allows administrators to log into MeshCentral and remotely browse files in any "meshed" remote system directly from the web page. To do this, we built a full web based file explorer interface and tested it on major browsers. The new feature uses the same communication system that remote terminal and remote KVM use and allows outside-in access inside your home or office network.
We are still testing this feature. Obviously, we will be adding remote file management support (upload/download/rename/delete). We will also look at adding this feature on the mobile web site. In general, I think being able to remotely access the file system is pretty important and complements the command prompt and remote desktop features pretty well. Remote desktop and command prompt are not well suited for the mobile web site, but remote file access should work great. Speaking of remote file access, I think people using Android phones should have no problem uploading and downloading, but I am not sure what if going to happen on iPhones/iPad/iPods where, in general, the file system is mostly hidden. By the way, this new browsing feature also works with both Linux & Windows mesh agents.
Below is a screen shot of the new feature. I think at this point, people will be impermanently waiting for the rest of the file management features. Batch file selection is built, but you can't do anything with it yet.

Hi Ylian,
I did open an account in MeshCentral and I'm very enthisiastic on the project.
My question is if it is possible to start a private web server for mesh services? our concern is security
Best regards,
Nestor Ramallo
Hi again Yllian,
The reason why I ask you the possibility to run the server intern is because I,m going to try the Mesh with some 100 Pcs from our students and I have the condition that we try a a pilot intern and we run it on a XEN server. I,m planning to have some 10 vPro machines in the pilot. This is a great opportunity to learn more with AMT.
Best regards,
Nestor Ramallo
Hi. There is no way right now to run your own server, but I understand why that would be of interest. At some point, we will be looking into it, but it would likely require that we offer manual or automatic updates for deployed servers. We also also working on API's so you can write your own mesh applications... Both these requests would be of high interest to school management.
Hi Ylian,
Thank you very much for your answer. I'll look forward forthe API and will try to convince our principal about the idea of using the MeshCentral at least for a trial, but my goal is to replace our students and academic stuff computers with vPro enabled machines.
Live to my dept is going to be much more simple !!
I'll come back toyou for advice about certain questions on the wireless capabilities of the vPro machines and the integration to the Mesh. We get delivered next week 5 vPro machines from DELL and they come direct to the lab !!
Best regards,
Nestor Ramallo
