Host Bob Duffy chats with Steve “Chippy” Paine of www.ultrabooknews.com at IDF 2012. Steve’s involved in the Ultimate Coder Challenge as a judge, and is really inspired from the progress made by the contestants so far in the competition. With zero documentation or subject matter to go on, the developers have had quite a few different issues come up; however, the best part about the Challenge according to Chippy is their willingness to share what they are learning with their competitors; at least to a point.
IDF is one of Steve’s favorite industry events, and he gives us his reasons why: everything is hands on, it is truly a learning event, and you come away with an Intel-inspired vision for the next twelve to eighteen months. His favorite technology at IDF 2012? Perceptual computing and the supporting SDK. He’s excited about the possible development possibilities that go along with this new technology. Right after perceptual computing for Steve comes the new Haswell next generation dual core GPU for higher performance and power. He’s looking forward to see how this will take gaming and video editing, both higher processing actions, into the next level.
