You can influence our roadmap

During the first week of March - All of the key players/decision makers of the appdeveloper program plan to get together in a conference room and talk about what we should/can deliver in the coming months. We all recognize that there are a lot of awesome things we can do with this program, but we all live in a constrained world where things do get prioritized.
Some of the decisions that the team has to make are:
What runtimes should we support?
What programming languages should the SDK support?
What improvement can we make on our validation process?

Packaging requirements have been published

I was helping out my neighbor (a true computer novice) to setup his computer. In the process, I realized how some relatively trivial things to me turned out to be really annoying and confusing to him. Installing applications was one of the big issues for him. He was not sure what the different options for installation were, he was really confused with the next button, etc. His comment was really interesting: “I don’t totally understand this application, why are they forcing me to make so many decisions to begin with”.

Beta test your application before submitting for validation
By Ajay Mungara (Intel) (111 posts) on January 18, 2010 at 2:42 pm

When you submit your applications for the Intel Atom Developer Program, your applications can be purchased & downloaded from the Intel AppUp Center. Do read the Intel AppUp center overview and download/install the Intel AppUp center to understand how your customers view your applications. At times even simple things like error messages or confirmation popup may become confusing to consumers.

Five things you should check before submitting your app for validation
By Ajay Mungara (Intel) (111 posts) on December 23, 2009 at 11:06 am

I am here with our application validation team seeing a common trend with the application rejections.
The two most common issues causing app rejections are:
• Applications are not using the SDK(beta) or not using the SDK(beta) correctly.
• Applications are not packaging correctly according to our packaging requirements.
(Most applications are failing the packing requirement – “Silent installation – Your application must install without any required input from the user.”)

I am very happy to announce that the much awaited Intel Atom Developer Program SDK (beta) is now available for download. What does this mean to you? It means you can now submit applications and take full advantage of the revenue generating opportunities. Be one of the first apps on the store with market access to millions of netbook users. Use the beta SDK and make your applications “store ready”.

Essential Apps for netbooks
By Ajay Mungara (Intel) (111 posts) on October 6, 2009 at 8:27 am

Developers typically ask me what is so different about applications for netbooks? My response to them is, netbooks, as compared to a traditional laptop, have limited hard disk space, less processing power, lower memory and limited UI/screen display. Your application needs to fit with the typical usage model of a netbook. Let me explain.
The usage models for netbooks fits right in between a mobile phone and a laptop. Users are demanding applications related to entertainment, productivity, communications and security without compromising on either performance or usability.
