Hi everyone, just a fun post to brighten up your week!

My laptop "art" was featured as the Shwaag Sighting of the week this week - click the link to view it! Of course, I've got the big Intel logo on there ... would you expect anything less? :-)

It got me wondering ... how many of you are into skinning your laptop or netbook with skins and stickers? Does anyone have anything really cool that they'd like to share showing off an Intel sticker or logo? Post a link to your image here and the best ones will make it to our Facebook page and you'll be (almost) famous!

We held our first Intel Application Lab a few weeks ago in San Jose, California and it was quite a success!

We had over 100 attendees come to the San Jose Marriott to learn about all the benefits of enrolling in the Intel Atom Developer Program. Attendees also learned how to use our Windows and Moblin C/C++ SDKs to easily upload their apps to the Intel AppUp center. As a special treat, we had Adobe evangelist Lee Brimelow discuss the ins and outs of developing with the Adobe AIR runtime and considerations when creating Adobe AIR apps. We raffled off netbooks to several lucky attendees and our Intel experts answered many good questions during an active Q&A session. We ended the day of learning with a dinner and networking reception.

Watch the short video below to hear comments from a few attendees at the event!

Developer Ignite is presented in the O'Reilly "Ignite" format, and if you're never watched an Ignite event before, it is quite entertaining. Each presenter gets 20 slides that change after 15 seconds; making each presentation last for exactly 5 minutes. You have to be quick and to the point with no frills! Presenters will tell you it's all about practice and choosing your words wisely to get your point across in 5 minutes, which is sometimes difficult with a topic as complicated as immutability!

If you're local in Arizona, definitely come down and watch the show on November 11th; find all the details at intel.com/software/ignite. And even if you're not in Arizona, don't worry - we've got you covered. Follow our Socialping live Twitter feed wall, view the photos on our Facebook fan page (click the Photos tab after the event), and view the event video on our webpage. You can also download some snazzy backgrounds for your viewing pleasure (at the top of our webpage)!

Developers, get ready to IGNITE!

Howdy gamers! I am very pleased to say the judges for this year's Intel Game Demo Challenge have been announced and what a superstar panel it is! (AND I'm not just saying that because I am one of them!). Will Wright? Sid Meier? I've got those two gaming rockstars to thank for a large missing gap of time in my life from being addicted to playing Spore, Sim City and Civilization! It's an unbelievable panel that has not ever been seen in the past years we've held this contest.

I hope all of you developers are working very hard on your entries; we need to give these great judges some meat to sink their teeth into!

Read what Ben Kuchera has to say about the panel on Ars Technica. Also, check out the full list of judges for yourself. And for heaven's sake, if you don't have your entry in yet, you don't have much time left to get started! Visit our site for more information; the deadline for entries is July 1, 2009!

SIGGRAPH 2009 in New Orleans, LA is coming up August 3 through 7 - I hope you're busy making your plans to attend now since it will be a blockbuster show! 25,000 professionals and students are expected to attend this year - I cannot wait to see everyone!

Intel will have a large booth in the exposition hall (#2217) as we did last year, so we hope you'll swing by to chat and then stay awhile to check out a presentation in our booth theater, view our latest hardware & participate in demonstrations! We'll have plenty of experts on hand to discuss relevant trends & topics including rendering, animation, modeling, concept/design, and asset management.

Intel will also be sponsoring the SIGGRAPH Studio in the center of the 3rd floor at the convention center. Here you will be able to use the latest technologies to let your imagination run wild to create something out of this world! There will be approximately 70 PCs just waiting for you to come by with your ideas.

Check our official Intel @ SIGGRAPH site for the latest updates or follow us on Twitter to stay in the loop. If you have any suggestions for us, we'd love to hear them! Just leave a comment in the space below.

As always, I am looking forward to seeing you all at the show!

Calling all game development educators! Your students can benefit from being involved in our Intel Visual Adrenaline Game Demo Challenge going on right now! Students from a wide range of disciplines can enter, including those with a focus on video game development, art, computer science, music/composition, computer programming, and much more. Students can form small teams where one student may code the game play, another may do the code threading, another may design the soundtrack, and yet another can develop the game art; it's a great group activity. Your students will also receive trial licenses of our most popular Intel® Software Product tools to help them develop and perfect their entry! See our contest Terms & Conditions page for more details.

The majority of our entries are usually from small developers and student groups. In fact, past winners have included student teams from DigiPen Institute and other educational institutions. A group or educational class can win any of the prizes offered, but only one person or corporate entity will be awarded any prizes (for tax purposes).

So what are you waiting for? The deadline for phase 1 entries is July 1, 2009. This could be a great opportunity for your students to learn teamwork, code real world game development projects and win some great prizes to boot! If you have questions about getting your class involved with this contest, feel free to comment at the end of this blog post or to contact us through our Game Demo Challenge forum. Game on!
