No, the most recent Sun compilers performed well on Intel Core i7/Xeon 55xx, and Sun has installed linux clusters. Even 6 weeks ago, publicity slides about support for future Intel platforms indicated that Sun intended to reserve Solaris to their own compilers and debuggers.
