How to use Amplifier to profile part of an interactive session?
I have a very large interactive application.  I'd like to be able to start it, then at some point start the profiling, then stop the profiling before ending the application.  Can this be done?

Thanks

Yes.  You want to start paused, which can be enabled by going to the project right-click menu, selecting Intel Parallel Amplifier and then selecting Project Properties....  You'll find there under "Collection" a check box, "Start data collection paused."  Click that and then start your run.  When you want to start collecting, you should be able to un-pause the collector via the Pause button on the Parallel Amplifer tool bar.

This is described in greater detail and with images at how-to-analyze-a-portion-of-your-application.
