Compatibility problems
I was curious to know if Visual Fortran Compiler ver. 8 is compatible with VISTA!!!

You would need at least Visual Studio 2005 for Vista compatibility, and a version of ifort which is compatible with the Visual Studio you choose.

Version 8 was not tested with Vista and, as Tim says, Vista supports VS2005 at the earliest, which version 8 does not support.  So, the answer is "no".  Versions 10 and later (at least through the present 11.1) support Vista and include the necessary Microsoft VS bits.
