Intel Compiler downloads and download manager
I have some issues with current state of download packages for Intel C++ Compiler.
Namely, I have been notified yesterday by email that new IPP 6.0 build is available, and I downloaded both 32-bit and 64-bit version.
Only to be notified today that there is a new Intel Compiler 11.0 package available for download.
If you still don't see where the problem is, let me help you -- IPP 6.0 is contained in all Intel Compiler package downloads! That means I will practically waste bandwidth to download something I already have!
Good thing I haven't downloaded MKL 10.1 yet because that is also included in the compiler download.
So, the question is why there is no separate compiler download so I don't have to download 700MB each time new compiler version gets released? What happens when the other tools (IPP, MKL, TBB) haven't changed? Again waste of bandwidth for Intel and for me. I really don't understand why it seems to be so hard to do things right?!?
Another issue I am having is the download manager on your website -- at least Readme, Release Notes, and such should be offered for download directly instead of through the download manager. Furthermore, they should not be ZIP'd because for small files such as .TXT and .HTM as well as for already compressed formats such as .PDF there is no gain in compression -- it is just an annoying extra step before you get the chance to read the file.
It would be even better if there is a checkbox in the account preferences saying "Use download manager" which is checked by default but which can be unchecked by those who already use download manager of their own such as Free Download Manager, FlashGet, Getright, etc.
