Hardware random number generator in current chipsets?

    Hi,

I understand that Intel 82802 firmware hub has a hardware RNG.
Is this still offered in the current chipsets? Trying to determine
whether to write a OpenSolaris driver for it.

    Thanks,
    -Krishna

    Hello Krishna,

Documentation at http://developer.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/security.htm indicates that this feature is only enabled for the following:

    Intel(R) 810 Chipset Family
    Intel(R) 815 Chipset Family
    Intel(R) 830 Chipset Family
    Intel(R) 845G Chipset Family

However, if you have a specific chipset in mind, it may be worth checking product specifications or asking product technical support.

    Regards,

    Gina H.
