    Scoring Criteria

Three test cases were used to judge the Strassen's Algorithm application entries. The sizes were

    Test1: M= 1024 N= 1024 P= 1024
    Test2: M= 2048 N= 2048 P= 1024
    Test3: M= 16 N= 16 P= 1048576

Reported time from the Strassen's computation was recorded. A limit of 2 minutes per data set was used, though no application ran longer than that. The sum the execution times was used to assign points based on where the total fell within the trange of the minimum and 360 seconds.

There were 10 submissions of code solutions (out of 17 total entries), 5 on Linux and 5 on Windows. One entry was threaded with Cilk++ and the rest were written in C/C++.

    Point spread:

    100
    99 99 99
    89 81
    64 63
    56
    0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

The write-up portion of each entry was read and scored by two judges. Each judge used the 10-30-10 breakdown of points for serial algorithm description, parallel algorithm description, and performance, respectively. One important component to the judging was to determine how close the submission was for publication on ISN. The assigned score was the average of the two judges scores.

    Point spread:

    44 43 42 42
    38 37
    25 23
    3
    0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Bonus points were given for contestant’s forum posts made before the problem entries were closed. Five points per post (maximum 25 points possible) were awarded.

The overall winner was iarchitect. The fastest code execution was submitted by gk4v07 (with close execution times from iarchitect, unamed_ages and akki, as well). The highest scored write-up was submitted by iarchitect.
