Could you compare Performance Tuning Utility with Intel VTune Amplifier XE 2011 for Windows and Linux?
Is there any significant difference?

I would only explicitly stress that official products (like VTune Amplifier) have support. They are also more user friendly in terms of documentation. My personal product of choice for development and tuning of a multithreaded application would be definitely Intel Parallel Studio XE that includes VTune Amplifier.
