Copyright issues

Hi Guys, I've got a developer who's a little bit worried about submitting his app because of copyright issues, I know that our validation process is very thorough and assume any infringments would be flagged and the app rejected. Can i get confirmation for this. Also is there an easy way for my developer to check if he has violated copyrighting law i.e a referencing website or a program that he can run? As always any help or advice is much appreciated, Cheers Allan

Hello AllanLawson,

Unfortunately there isn't any easy way for identifying copyright laws, as long as you follow the validation guidelines you should be fine. Otherwise validation team will identify any infringements and reject your application with a reason.

Please have a look the following articles for further information:

Allan,

Although not refined to your question, this link on wikipedia may come in useful:

In my experience, searching google for similar content is a first step to validate whether the piece of software you intend to publish is original. It may be wise to follow that up with an affidavit from the developer as well, to lessen your potential liability.
