The Projects tab of Intel® XDK NEW (Intel XDK) lists those projects the Intel XDK NEW is aware of on your development system.
The currently active project is highlighted (as shown above) with some general information about the active project such as creation date, date last modified, creation method and the path on your system where the project is located appearing on the screen. From this screen you may also mail a test version of your application to other individuals or delete the project from the Intel XDK NEW projects list. Deleting the project from here does NOT delete the project directory on your system.
The active project is the project upon which all other tabs will perform their operations.
Tasks you can perform from the Projects tab are change the active project, create a new project, or open an Intel XDK NEW project that was previously deleted or copied from another system.
Changing the Active Project
To change the active project, simply click on the name of the new project you want to become your active project. The new project is highlighted and the project information is updated. All other tabs will also now be associated with the new project.
Start a New Project
To create a new project, click on the Start a New Project button at the bottom of the projects list.
You will see the New Project Setup screen. On the setup screen you will choose the way you want to start your new project by selecting an option under the START NEW APP list. You will be asked to provide a name for the project as well a storage location on your system where the project directory will be created. The specified project name will become the directory name used to contain the project. When making a project type selection, follow any instructions provided to successfully create the new project.
After completing all fields, select the CREATE button to create your new project. By default this project will now become your active project.
NOTE FOR USING IMPORT PROJECT OPTION: Your project must contain an index.html file at the root of the project directory that is the entry point to your HTML5 app. If you are importing a project from the previous version of the Intel® XDK be sure to select the 3.4.0/4.0.0 directory as your import location so that the proper directory structure exists for use in Intel XDK NEW.
Open a Project
To restore a previously deleted Intel XDK NEW project file or an Intel XDK NEW project copied from another system, select the Open A Project button at the bottom of the projects list.
Navigate to the location of the *.xdk file within the project you wish to open/restore. When you open the file, the project will be added to the projects list and become your new active project.
