There is a new Black Belt in the Academic Community

It is an exciting day in the Intel Academic Community; we have a new Black Belt for Academia!  It is my pleasure to announce that Professor Jose Villeta of the University of Southern California (USC) is our latest member to be promoted to this most coveted and honored position.
The Black Belt for Academia is earned through a combination of community participation, leadership, integration of parallel programming into curriculum nominations, and  approval by the Intel selection committee.

    It was a sunny day last Thursday in Paris after a very stormy night,  I was sitting in the sun filled conference room with 80 deans and Rectors of the top universities in Europe attending the European Computer Science Summit where the first Keynote speaker Dr.

    The Academic Community team together with Brooklyn Technical High School launched a Parallelism Curriculum Pilot, there have been a number of interesting blog posts on the Academic Community website, and, of key importance, we have a number of new parallel programming teaching modules on our Moodle.  Finally, be sure to visit the newly redesigned Visual Computing Developer site, check out some great source code and let us know what you think.
